The Bovril Great Outdoors Revival

posted 6 Oct 2010 10:35 by Kerry Harley

Saddlescombe Farm is one of the finest examples of an original downland farm with traditional farm buildings; and it includes one of the finest examples of an 18th century granary barn in the county. Unfortunately,  the barn roof is in danger of falling in and your support  needed  for it to be repaired; otherwise we run the risk of losing this important heritage item forever.

Visitors to the tea shop can readily see the barn since its situated right next to the tea shop.

We need your VOTE to save the barn. Every vote counts.

What you have to do:-
  1. go to: www.bovril.co.uk/revival
  2. click on: FIND A PROJECT
  3. type in the post code box: BN1
  4. fill in: your name & details and press VOTE NOW (before December 2010)

Now there's a thought: what a perfect way to end a walk with a cup of tea and a look around the barn (once its been repaired)!

New & exciting: an "Indian Night" at the tea shop on the evening of June 29th, from 6pm to 10 pm!

Kerry will be serving home made curries, including chicken and vegetable curry. A full menu to be published shortly.

Booking a table

In order to cater for everybody that night, folk interested in the event will have to book a seat in advance (preferably two weeks before hand).

The price per head is £20,  ten pounds of which will have to be paid at the time of booking.

See Kerry at the tea shop to arrange bookings.

Drinking alchol

Absolutely no problem, but because the tea shop doesn't have a licence to sell alcohol you will have to bring your own bottle(s).

The Hiker's Rest is open only at weekends during December. This includes the weekend after Christmas and of course Boxing day. (December 28th is the last day the tea shop is open during the winter).

The Hiker's Rest then re-opens in the Spring, on March 1st 2010.

Its been so lovely meeting up and serving you at the tea shop. Thank you all for coming, and the fun and pleasure we have had serving during the year.  Maybe we will see you on a weekend during December (weather permitting!!!). I hope so. But if not, we look forward to seeing again in the Spring.

Happy Christmas and best wishes to you all.

Tea shop relocates on the farm

posted 6 Nov 2009 06:03 by Kerry Harley   [ updated 6 Nov 2009 08:46 ]

During October the tea shop was relocated on the farm. The new location offers several advantages. There is  some sheltered accommodation and the whole area is enclosed which makes the management of functions like birthday parties quite straightforward.
